Red pine, Shelley Lake, Quetico Park

Description

Although only a fraction of the park is red and white pine forest, canoeists think otherwise as the trees mostly grow along the shores of the lakes and rivers.  The sound of wind in their needles along with their gnarled shapes and great size make them particularly appealing to wilderness travellers.
